Adrina Anscelly
celebrated grand
victories in the
Under-18 events at
the 100Plus National
Junior
Circuit (Sabah &
Sarawak Zone) today.
Asry, who was given
a scare by team mate
Cheong Khung Tze,
had to comeback from
a first game deficit
before taking the
crown.
Khung Tze took the
first game 17-21,
and more than
matched Asry in the
next two games, but
the top seed stepped
up a game when it
mattered to win
21-15, 21-18 to end
the 46-minute
encounter.
In the all-Sabah
doubles final,
Hezron P. Wong-Kiw
Yuk Chuen beat Mohd
Aliffudin-Eric
Borhyne 21-17,
21-23, 21-18 in 50
minutes.
Adrina, meanwhile,
had no problems
clinching both the
singles and doubles
crowns.In the
singles final, she
took on doubles
partner Tan Ee Lin
and despite their
familiarity with
each other, posted
an easier than
expected win,
earning a 21-18,
21-15 victory in 25
minutes.
They took the
doubles gold after
defeating two
Sarawak pairs - J.
Doris Chelam Kasturi-Tan
Ann Ching and Ngieng
Siew Yin-Wong Siew
Jiun - in the round
robin league.
Tan Sue Lin of Sabah
also won a double in
the girls' Under-16
category while
Sarawak's Eric Jong
Zie Sheng was a
multiple winner in
the boys' Under-12
division.
Tan Sue Lin defeated
teammate Siti Afiqah
Suhaimi 21-7, 21-11
in the singles final
then teamed up with
Azfazilah Amdan to
beat another Sabah
pair, Shaneal Chai-Tee
Fui Chung, 17-21,
21-12, 21-12 in the
doubles final.
Eric hardly raised a
sweat in his 21-10,
21-14 victory over
Sabah's Fino Bieen
in the boys' singles
final, keeping him
fresh for the
doubles where he and
partner Kam Sing
Siong made it double
heartache for Fino,
whose efforts with
partner Joethan Chin
wasn't good enough.
Eric-Sing Siong won
21-10, 21-19 in 19
minutes.
Sabah ran out the
big winners in the
event, winning 11 of
the 16 titles on
offer.
